Weekly Wake-Up Call: Calm Under Pressure

Using the best quarterback in the NFL as an example of "Calm Under Pressure," then discussing a strategy to build that competencies within ourselves.

Our world is ever evolving, and with that evolution comes another change to this blog. I have often toyed with the best way to utilize this space, wanting to use it to inspire, motivate, and overall better people’s lives.

Being Calm Under Pressure

Love him or hate him, reigning NFL MVP and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the shining example of “calm Under Pressure.” Listen in as I explore exactly why Rodgers gives off the aura of calmness needed to succeed in any situation, along with my own experience receiving feedback in this same competency.

But it’s not enough to identify this skill—how do we cultivate it?

I apply another sports philosophy in its simplest form to show you how to cultivate calmness under pressure:

Practice.

How do you practice this? Putting yourself in challenging and uncomfortable situations, on purpose. Be it mental, emotional, physical or otherwise, this is how you develop this trait.

Listen in for all the details in my longest Wake Up Call yet! (Still only 16 minutes.)

What song is that? It’s “Irresistible Force” by 2 Skinnee J’s. Google them, YouTube them—you’ll be glad you did, but then you’ll wish they were still together.

I aim to provide you with content that can impact your life in a positive way. So take this introduction to prepare the palette—and if you like what you hear (at least a little bit), why not share it with a friend?

A mix of wrestling and real life--and sometimes wrestling is more real than people. Stories of struggle in and out of the business. Wrestling is the backdrop and the oftentimes the example, but the message goes far beyond.
